1) Bristol City vs Chesterfield (English League One, 3PM)
We start at Ashton Gate as undefeated Bristol City look to continue their run and with their promotion rivals not playing today, it gives them a chance to really extend a lead at the top of League One which already stands at 4 points.  They were impressive in the Cup in midweek against League Two Cheltenham but it’s here in front of their home fans where Bristol City really have looked like promotion material this season. 4 wins and a draw in their 5 games here at Ashton Gate is part of the reason Steve Cotteril’s side are top of the pile and it’s now been 8 months since home fans last left this ground on the back of a loss agianst Coventry back in February.  They’re the only undefeated league side in England and today they will be looking to continue that fantastic run of form against Chesterfield.  Don’t assume for one second that the visitors will be a walkover though.  Paul Cook has his side playing some damn attractive football and is sticking to his philosophy of taking it to the other team, despite receiving some initial criticism.  But it’s exactly that style of play which has propelled the Spireites to 6th in League One following promotion from League Two last year and it’s also that style of play which seems to have sprung striker Eoin Doyle into life.  Following 11 goals in 43 appearances for Chesterfield last season in League Two, Doyle seems revived and this year has 12 goals in 10 appearances for the Derbyshire club making him the leading goalscorer in England.  He picked up League One player of the month in September and there’s no doubt that Aden Flint and Derrick Williams will have their hands full at the heart of the City defence this afternoon.  As for team news, well Keiran Agard is likely to still be missing for the hosts meaning it’s likely to be Aaron Wilbraham and Jay Emmanuel Thomas up top.  For the visitors, they boast a full strength lineup with Doyle having recovered from a small knock and goalkeeper Tommy Lee having his midweek red card recinded after an appeal.  These are both very attacking sides and while there’s no doubt in my mind that Bristol City won’t lose this game, winning it is a different matter.  I think it’s going to be close either way but with plenty of goals.
SAFE BET: Over 2.0 Goal Line at 1.325
MEDIUM BET: Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score at Evens
RISKY BET: Eoin Doyle to Score 2 or More Goals at 9/1

2) Barnet vs Kidderminster (English Vanarama Conference, 3PM)
And so after looking at the League One leaders, it’s now time to head into the Conference where the leaders down there take on Kidderminster in what should be an interesting encounter.  I wasn’t impressed with Kidderminster the other night against Welling and in all honesty I felt the away side deserved something from the game.  Kidderminster ended a run of 2 games without a win with that 2-1 win in the week but they face a much stiffer test this afternoon in the form of league leaders Barnet.  Martin Allen is a very decent manager at this level and has his side playing some amazing football in the Conference.  He’s got a wealth of goalscoring talent at his fingertips and a decent depth of squad as has been proven in recent weeks as Barnet have still only lost 1 of their last 5 games despite an injury list that has been growing by the day.  But confidence is returning now at The Hive with many of these players starting to show signs of recovery or having returned this week to the lineup.  Martin Allen shuffled his lineup in the week against Macclesfield and therefore he has near enough a full squad to call upon today against Kidderminster.  Charlie Macdonald and Keanu Marsh-Brown will still be missing for The Bees but Muggleton has showed promising signs of recovery and Barnet have welcomed back Villa, Cook and Vilhete who have all been missing recently.  Harriers boss Gary Whild will know full well that the win against Welling in the week was only their 3rd in 7 games, a return which simply isn’t good enough if you want to be challenging for promotion.  And away from home this season they have won just twice at Woking and at 5th bottom side Dover.  Whild will once again be able to call upon the services of defender/coach John Gowling who has served a 1 match ban and aside from that he has no new injury concerns to worry about.  I don’t expect a thriller here by any means.  Both sides won their home games 1-0 against each other last season and a similarly tight affair wouldn’t be surprising, but I just have to fancy the home win for Allen’s men who are in fine form at the moment.
SAFE BET: Barnet Draw No Bet at 1/3
MEDIUM BET: Barnet -0.5 Asian Handicap at 1.800
RISKY BET: Barnet to win to nil at 2/1

3) Shrewsbury vs Cheltenham (English League Two, 3PM)
The Shrews come into this game on the back of successive 1-0 losses but don’t let that fool you into thinking they’re not a decent side.  They’re the only side in League Two who are yet to be beaten on home soil and they’ve conceded just 1 goal here at Greenhous Meadow all season too.  Yes they have been short of goals as of late but having completed the loan signing of Bobby Grant from Blackpool in midweek, that could soon be about to change.  He never really got into the team at Blackpool but having played for Rochdale in League Two a few years back, we know that the 24 year old is certainly capable of goals at this level and given his first start this weekend he could well prove his worth.  Micky Mellon will also be boosted by the potential return of striker Andy Mangan who is also very capable of finding the net.  The Shrews how Cheltenham who are in absolute free fall at the moment and have now gone 7 games without a win in any competition.  They’ve failed to find the net in any of their last 3 games on the road and confidence is shot.  A sign of how low that confidence is at the moment was revealed this week when one of Cheltenham’s main strikers Terry Gornell asked to be transfer listed and as a result of that, it’s unlikely he will feature today.  Shrewsbury won this meeting 2-0 the last time the two sides met here and currently boast an 8 game unbeaten streak against The Robins.  I full expect them to extend that to 9 games today.
SAFE BET: Shrewsbury Draw No Bet at 2/5
MEDIUM BET: Shrewsbury to win at 19/20
RISKY BET: Bobby Grant to Score 1st & Shrewsbury to win at 7/1
