1) Wycombe Wanderers vs Burton Albion (English League Two, 7:45PM)
We start with a little bet that will probably piss most of you off as I know there are so many of you out there who don’t like betting unders but my argument is that you have to go where the stats take you and at least on this occasion we’re not waiting 90 minutes for the bet to come in.  See I’m looking at 1st half goals for this one and there’s a few stats that point towards a quiet 1st half at Adams Park this evening.  The most impressive of those stats is Wycombe’s approach to the 1st half of home games.  In 8 fixtures so far here this season they have scored only 1 goal whilst conceding only 3.  62.5% of their home games have been 0-0 at the break and 90% of their goals scored this season have been after half time, the highest % in League Two.  Burton have scored 7 1st half goals in 8 away games this season before half time but 4 of those were in one half against Carlisle which was a completely freak result.  Look closely and you’ll find that 6 of their 8 away games this season have had less than 2 1st half goals.  Now look at their recent meetings over the last 2 seasons and you’ll find that there have been a total of 9 goals scored in games between them however only 2 of those have been scored before half time. All of the stats point to a goalless 1st half for me here and I’m taking a punt on it.  For the risky bet I’m going to bank on the 1st half goals prediction being correct but I’m going to back Wycombe to win this.  I’m fully aware of manager syndrome and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink taking charge of Burton for the first time but Wycombe have lost just once in 8 games here at home and the likes of Paul Hayes and Sam Wood have been on fire this season.  Burton won here at Adams Park last season but lost the 2 meetings prior to that and with Burton also having to bring in loanee goalkeeper Chris Weale due to an ever increasing injury list between the sticks I think Wycombe can take advantage in the 2nd half.
SAFE BET: Under 1.5 1st Half Goals at 1/3
MEDIUM BET: Under 1.0 1st Half Goal Line at 1.750
RISKY BET: Draw HT / Wycome FT at 4/1

2) France U21′s vs England U21′s (Youth Friendly, 8PM)
I know this game is a friendly but Gareth Southgate will be looking for his side to build on an incredible run of wins tonight as the English youth travel to Brittany in northern France to take on the a French side.  The French haven’t made it to the U21 Championship in the Czech Republic next year after throwing it away against Sweden in the playoff.  They had a 2-0 lead from the first leg and then let it all slip, going down 4-1 in Sweden meaning they’ll be waiting another 2 years before they see any more tournament action.  Pierre Mankowski’s squad does have some talent, there’s no doubt about that.  Arsenal’s Sanogo, Monaco’s Martial and Marseille’s Thauvin are all very decent youth players, but the French have really hit a downward spiral as of late.  Their only wins in their last 5 games in all competitions came against Kazakhstan (although they still conceded against the minnows) and in the first leg of the Swedish tie before they chucked it away.  They’ve drawn with the likes of Iceland and Italy here in recent months and the knowledge that they haven’t qualified for the tournament next year has to be weighing heavy on these young shoulders.  Southgate’s England arrive in Brittany absolutely brimming with confidence.  Following a 4-2 aggregate win over Croatia they will take part in the U21 Euro Championships for the 5th consecutive time and a stunning win over Portugal on Thursday evening marked their 5th successive win in all competitions.  England struggled in the Toulon tournament earlier this year but if you take that out of the equation and consider games only involving European competition it’s now 11 consecutive wins…who says the future of English football is on it’s arse?  Now with this being a friendly you may assume that England have nothing to play for, but that couldn’t be more far from the truth.  For though France do actually have nothing to play for, the English players are jostling to be in Gareth Southgate’s final 23-man squad which he announces pretty soon and this is a chance for players to shine.  Danny Ings and Nathan Redmond were particularly impressive against Portugal at Turf Moor last week and you have to remember that the 3-1 win over them came against a side who won ALL 10 of their qualifying games and it also came without the services of Berainho who has been relied on heavily but has now been promoted to the senior squad.  Southgate can also call upon Harry Kane who has been on fire lately and with the English players fighting to be part of the tournament squad next year I’m expecting the lads to continue an incredible run of form and pick up another result this evening against an out of shape French outfit.
SAFE BET: England U21′s +0.5, +1.0 Asian Handicap at 1.475
MEDIUM BET: England U21′s 0.0 Asian Handicap at 2.250
RISKY BET: England U21′s to win & Both Teams to Score at 5/1

3) Iraq vs Oman (Gulf Cup, 5:15PM)
I’m going to annoy you a little bit more now by going back to unders again but I simply have to in what is the worlds least exciting tournament ever to take place.  We enter the 2nd round of games in the Gulf Cup today and after the 1st round thrillers which produced a total of 1 goal over 2 games, fans are flocking in their masses to the Prince Faisal bin Fahad Stadium in Al Ittihad, Saudi Arabia as Iraq and Oman look to build on those stunning performances first time out and take the fans by storm.  I am of course being sarcastic.  Iraq lost their first game 0-1 to Kuwait marking the 3rd time in 4 games that they have failed to find the net.  They were actually the better side in that game but with 8 shots and no goals compared to Kuwait who had half of the shots and managed to win it’s a wonder whether they will ever score to be honest.  Oman’s first game with the UAE finished 0-0 and they too had 8 shots in that game but failed to find the net marking the 3rd time in 5 games that they have failed to score.  But when you look back over the history of this competition for both of these sides, you’ll see a glittering binary-like display of 0′s and 1′s.  In Oman’s last 10 Gulf Cup games dating back to 2009, 50% have finished 0-0 and 90% have had fewer than 3 goals.  In their last 2 tournaments they have played 7 games, scoring just 2 goals!  Iraq’s history is a little less convincing than that on the goals front but their last 6 consecutive Gulf Cup games and 8 of their last 10 have had 2 goals or fewer.  The two have met on 8 previous occasions in competitive games and 7 of those have finished under 2.5 goals with their last 5 meetings producing an average of exactly 1 goal per game.  I know “unders” are a curse a times, but if you want to be bored to death by two shocking sides today then find a stream of this and enjoy!
SAFE BET: Under 2.5 Goals at 2/5
MEDIUM BET: Under 1.5, 2.0 Goal Line at 2.000
RISKY BET: 0-0 Correct Score at 5/1
